Solar System Exhibit, 2024
About the Project
Chabot had hanging scale models of the planets from an old exhibit, but they needed content. In a one-month "design sprint, " we prototyped large-scale signage using content from science.nasa.gov/solar-system. We printed the initial prototype on canvas in-house and mounted it on kraft core.
The exhibit was well received and provided much-needed Astronomy 101 content. However, this prototype was not durable and showed wear within six months.
The next iteration (shown here) was an opportunity to test materials and a new in-house fabricated framing system. A couple of these are on Sintra, one is on Gatorboard, and most are on 48 pt. chipboard.
