Chabot had hanging scale models of the planets from an old exhibit, but they needed content. In a one-month "design sprint," I prototyped large-scale signage, writing copy using content from science.nasa.gov/solar-system. I printed the initial prototype on canvas in-house and mounted it on kraft core. The exhibit was well received, but this prototype was not durable and showed wear within six months. The next iteration (shown here) was an opportunity to test materials and a new framing system, made by our talented fabrication team. A couple of these are on Sintra, one is on Gatorboard, and most are on 48 pt. chipboard. With the back of the panels visible, I mounted die-cut vinyl lettering to hint at the exhibit while visitors come up the stairs.
